Ms. Sophie Martin practises mainly in the fields related to tax law, namely those of corporate law, business law and trust law, more particularly in the context of commercial transactions, corporate reorganizations and corporate succession plans.
Ms. Martin also has an excellent knowledge of the legal requirements applicable to insurance companies and other financial institutions, as well as those applicable to the distribution of financial products and services.
Ms. Martin is also particularly experienced in the following areas: corporate reorganizations of private corporations, mergers and acquisitions, fiduciary administration and securities issues (namely, flow-through shares). She also deals with estate planning, including the drafting of wills, trust deeds and mandates in case of incapacity, and engages in dispute settlement negotiations with the federal and the Province of Quebec tax authorities.
