The Firm
Stein Monast is a people-oriented and agile firm, where legal rigor is combined with a genuine connection to our clients. These are the principles that define us.
A History Spanning More Than 70 Years
Stein Monast is rooted in a rich history, shaped in particular by a lineage of exceptional lawyers and public figures such as the Honorable Louis St-Laurent, Jean Lesage, and Paule Gauthier. This legacy continues to inspire us today as we pass on expertise and professional values that evolve alongside the realities of our clients.
Based in the heart of Quebec City’s Old Port, we serve businesses and organizations of all sizes in Quebec, Canada, and beyond through 21 practice areas that work together to address our clients’ business needs.
Our client base includes private and public companies, financial institutions, insurers, public agencies, and leading players contributing to the vitality of the Quebec, Canadian, and international economies.
Our offices also house the Honorary Consulate General of Sweden in Quebec City, with one of our partners serving as Honorary Consul General.
More than 70 years later, our story continues to unfold with the same commitment to understanding our clients’ realities and supporting them wherever their projects take them—and even beyond.

A Committed Firm
We believe in a fair, inclusive, and diverse workplace, while encouraging our teams to get involved in their communities. Whether through volunteering, supporting organizations, or participating in initiatives that are close to our hearts and reflect our priorities for engagement, we are involved in: education and student retention, culture, economic development, health, sustainable development, social causes, and humanitarian efforts.
We also place a strong emphasis on sports and healthy lifestyles, particularly through our “Sports Week” and our teams’ participation in various tournaments and sporting events. These commitments reflect our desire to make a positive contribution to our community and to create opportunities for us to come together.
A United Leadership Team, a Shared Vision
Pierre-Olivier Ménard-Dumas, Managing Partner; Alexandra Sirois, Executive Director; Charles Gagnon, Chair; as well as Marie-Hélène Bétournay, Karine Dionne, Louis Mazurette, Jérémie Langevin and Pierre-Olivier Plante share a common goal: to grow the firm while remaining true to who we are.
Their experiences and perspectives enable the firm to maintain a balance between ambition, approachability, and well-being. Beyond their respective roles, they form a cohesive team that is attuned to the realities of our professionals and our clients.
